Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee

Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee... is there a "best" coffee in the whole world?

Of course, this depends on your taste buds and if you even enjoy drinking coffee. Millions of people throughout the world drink coffee every single day and never give it a second thought. To these coffee drinkers, gourmet coffee really holds no relevance.

But today, more than ever before, millions of gourmet coffee enthusiasts like to savor the aroma and tastes of their favorite gourmet coffees.

If your favorite coffee happens to be Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee, then you truly have good taste.

This might be the best tasting coffee in the world. It is certainly one of most expensive coffee beans in the world.

Blue Mountain Range Jamaica
Blue Mountains of Jamaica

In Jamaica, they have a range of hills like no other range on the planet. The area is known as the "Blue Mountain" region.

The region got it's name from the bluish misty haze, that drapes the areas ridges. This area is located between Port Maria in the north, and Kingston in the south.

This mountainous region of Jamaica rises at just under 7,500 feet. The Blue Mountains are some of the tallest in the whole Caribbean chain of islands.

Hundreds of years ago, dense forest covered the Blue Mountains. In time, much of the area was cleared by settlers that farmed this region.

It is in the lower slopes of the Blue Mountains where the finest coffee beans in the world were first grown. It's the high altitude, misty, cool air and rich soil that makes these coffee beans the finest. The beans take almost twice as long to mature, almost ten full months.

In the 19th century, Jamaica was pronounced the leading coffee producer of the world. Jamaica's Coffee Industry Board was soon established to oversee the whole operation.

Today, the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica rules the entire Blue Mountain coffee label. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is now a strict classification of coffee that ensures only the Grade 1 beans are exported for sales. But this took several years of growing pains to be realized for what it is today.

It could be said Jamaica had a lot to do with the world's present coffee certification process. By 1943, most of Jamaica's coffee was being exported to Canada.

The Canadian coffee market found the whole quality control standards over the Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee totally unacceptable.

Finally, by 1950, the Coffee Industry Board was created to officially oversee and maintain the quality control of the exported coffee beans.

It is a bone of contention among many gourmet coffee drinkers as to whether or not Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee is the best tasting coffee in the world.

It really is all about a matter of taste. Many coffee drinkers do not even like the taste of Blue Mountain Jamaican while others have found this coffee to be a small piece of "coffee" heaven.

If you have never tasted this coffee before, then give it a try. If you find you can't live without it, then be prepared to find a second job to support your newest habit.

If you think you have found a deal buying Blue Mountain Jamaican beans online at $12.00 per pound then think again. This coffee bean sells at a much higher price per pound.

At $12.00 per pound, this would certainly be a blend, not 100% pure Blue Mountain Jamaican. Today, if you want the best Jamaican coffee available, then ask for Jamaican Board Certified Blue Mountain.

To make matters even more dire, if you want Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee at any given time then you will probably be out of luck unless you want to go to the source.

To begin with, a Blue Mountain harvest is not that big. 90% of every harvest is sold to Europe and Japan.

If you happen to find a reliable, steady source of Blue Mountain Jamaican, it will cost you around $40.00 per pound.

Unless you happen to know the governor of Jamaica, nothing is ever a reliable source or a steady supply when it comes to this coffee.

You might be able to find supplies of 100% Blue Mountain Jamaican through the Internet, but take care. Again, many businesses will try selling you something that is much less than 100%.

Thousands of people may think they are actually purchasing Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee but they end up with blends that are not pure.

If you want the real thing, you will pay dearly for it. Again, it should be noted to look for the logo on the package telling you the beans are certified by the Jamaican Coffee Industry Board.

Is Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee that good? My personal opinion... it is one of the best tasting I have ever had.
